Program RequirementsThe Master of Arts Degree in Economics is an analytic degree that provides students with a flexible set of skills. Our program develops analytical skills by combining a strong foundation in theory with applied research. Students leave the program able to apply both theory and research skills to workplace and educational settings. Please be advised that if you want to use the MA in Economics as a stepping stone to a PhD in Economics, you might be advised to pursue a MS in Mathematics. We’ve developed a guide to help you decide which route you might want to pursue. Students demonstrate their skills through coursework, comprehensive examinations in theory, and a research project or thesis. The MA degree requires 45 units, including a terminal exercise and 2 comprehensive exams. Full-time students can often complete the program within one year, if they desire. Required Courses
